Often, all it takes is a couple of professional hypnosis sessions followed by regular use of a good self-hypnosis CD for you to become smoke free for life. You can permanently change your behavior and regain your health by combining self-help and outside assistance.

With over a dozen techniques to choose from, there is no reason to choose just one NLP or hypnotherapy school. You can utilize these techniques to arrive at your ultimate goal of stopping smoking forever.

One very popular technique is hypnosis. It’s been used since the 19th century as a therapeutic technique. Despite being connected with charlatans in the old days, it is considered by modern experts to have a role in helping to alter many behaviors. Clearly, the physical addiction is only a part of the whole smoking habit. The mind must be changed for effective long term change.

Hypnosis operates by inserting suggestions into your subconscious. The hidden triggers which arouse the desire to smoke can be fought by putting in other triggers which counter them.

It can be just as helpful to work on your conscious mind. MLP for instance, concentrates on finding and figuring out the thoughts and ideas, which are in our control. When they are looked at carefully, they can be effected by referring to the truth and logic.

There are many ways that you can quit smoking, but some just won’t work – for you. That does not mean they are not effective, it just means that they were not effective – for you. Most people try three to five times and just as many ways before they successfully quit smoking. Some people take even more tries. Some find they can stop smoking on the first attempt, but that is not usually the case. If you have tried different methods to quit smoking that have failed in the past, since many people have used hypnotherapy to stop smoking, you may want to consider this method. Hypnosis can help you quit smoking also – if you want it to.

The power of suggestion may be part of why some can use hypnosis for smoking cessation. They believe it is going to work so it does. Also, studies have shown that there is really something to this type of method to quit smoking. Your subconscious mind is very powerful. It is where all your habits and addictions are stored. While some people have subconscious brains that resist addictions, others are not so inclined. For example, there is evidence that shows that alcoholism might not run in a family but rather addiction does. That is important to keep in mind. (more…)

We all know that cigarette smoking is bad for our health. In fact, by now, nearly everyone on the planet is aware of the dangers of cigarette smoking. Even knowing the dangers, there are over 3000 kids that start smoking every day!

Now like I said, nearly all of us are aware of the hazards of smoking. When I started smoking, packs of cigarettes had just began to have the warning “Caution: Cigarette Smoking May be Hazardous to Your Health” printed on their side. This was the first government effort to inform people that smoking was bad for you. Since then, fighting the battle against cigarettes has been a case of the tobacco industry versus common sense.

Unfortunately common sense does not prevail and our government continues to rather ineffectually attempt to legislate our behavior. At the same time the tobacco industry continues to spend hundreds of millions of dollars fighting the legislation and promoting their products of death.

Legislation passed on April 1, 2009 nearly doubled the price of tobacco. I believe that the rationale was that, by making tobacco products so expensive, especially in the economy we are now experiencing, this would be great method to help smokers quit smoking, simply because of the cost. (more…)

Reasons to Quit Smoking

When I was in the Navy I smoked, sometimes as much as two packs a day. After I got out of the Navy I used a combination of hypnotherapy and visualization to quit smoking. Since learning of the power of hypnotherapy to help people stop smoking, I have helped hundreds of people quit. I think it is the number one best thing you can do for your long term health. There are as many reasons as there are methods to quit smoking. Here are nine of the best reasons I know to quit smoking for good.

1. Smoking Causes Poor Circulation and Heart Disease

Smoking can kill you a number of ways. The most prominent is heart disease. There were 831,272 deaths due to heart disease in 2006. It continues to be the number one cause of death in the United States. Smoking is responsible for 30 percent of all heart attacks and cardiovascular deaths. Nicotine, the main ingredient in cigarettes, raises your blood pressure and makes your blood clot more easily. When your blood clots more easily it gets stuck in your veins causing poor circulation and heart attacks. (more…)
