Often, all it takes is a couple of professional hypnosis sessions followed by regular use of a good self-hypnosis CD for you to become smoke free for life. You can permanently change your behavior and regain your health by combining self-help and outside assistance.

With over a dozen techniques to choose from, there is no reason to choose just one NLP or hypnotherapy school. You can utilize these techniques to arrive at your ultimate goal of stopping smoking forever.

One very popular technique is hypnosis. It’s been used since the 19th century as a therapeutic technique. Despite being connected with charlatans in the old days, it is considered by modern experts to have a role in helping to alter many behaviors. Clearly, the physical addiction is only a part of the whole smoking habit. The mind must be changed for effective long term change.

Hypnosis operates by inserting suggestions into your subconscious. The hidden triggers which arouse the desire to smoke can be fought by putting in other triggers which counter them.

It can be just as helpful to work on your conscious mind. MLP for instance, concentrates on finding and figuring out the thoughts and ideas, which are in our control. When they are looked at carefully, they can be effected by referring to the truth and logic.

Your health is a matter of taking care of both your mind and body. By exercising and eating well you can improve your physical health. But if you have a negative attitude you will not experience optimum health. You need a plan that develops both your body and mind. Your optimum health plan needs to have nutrition for both soma and mentis (body and mind).

In order to achieve optimum health you may find that you need to change something about your life. You may want to change your diet, your exercise routine, or perhaps your overall mental attitude. Since our society looks for immediately results you need to remember that these type of lifestyle changes don’t happen overnight so be patient when looking for results. Another thing to remember is that if you’re trying to lose weight, sometimes the body gets healthy on the inside first before you begin to see results on the outside.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention people today now live to an average of 77.9 years. This is up from 47 years in at the turn of the last century (1900). Up until about 10 years ago, scientist believed that that the brain deteriorated and lost neurons as we aged. This is partly due to the fact that as we age our brains lose between 5 and 10% of their weight. But according to Caleb Finch, Ph.D., the ARCO/William F. Kieschnick Chair in the Neurobiology of Aging and a professor of gerontology and biological sciences this isn’t the case. Professor Finch says, “Now it is really clear that if you don’t have a specific disease that causes loss of nerve cells, then most, if not all, of the neurons remain healthy until you die.”

What does this mean to you? This means that no matter what age bracket you fall into, you can maintain healthy brain activity levels, even as you get older. Your brain activity doesn’t have to slow down. Muddled thinking and similar problems doesn’t necessarily come as a result of aging. Like physical exercise, there are brain enhancement exercises you can do to maintain and improve your mental alertness. The important thing is that you start exercising your brain now, because research has shown that it is never too late to improve memory and concentration!

Every year, the holidays provide so many tempting foods and goodies that nearly everyone gains at least a few pounds. This leads many of people making New Year’s resolutions that sound something like, ”I will lose x number of pounds this year.”

One problem with losing weight is that there are so many weight loss plans and diets out there it’s hard to choose one. Another problem is that while one program may work for one person it might not work for another.

Sometimes this can be due partly because of an individual’s metabolism but sometimes it can simply be that the food choices some weight loss diets don’t match the dieter’s taste. Some people find the seemingly tiny portions of food unsatisfying and, as a result, are not able to stay with the program.

Healthy living and eating habits to lose weight and keep it off!

All over the country, 365 days a year, tens of millions of Americans are obsessively trying to lose weight. When it comes to weight loss, there are many options to choose from, but no matter what option you choose, you will probably face many obstacles and frustrations as you diet with this program or that, all to no avail.

When you Google weight loss you have hundreds of fad diets to choose from: the cabbage soup diet, the Atkins diet, vegetarian diet, all protein diet, no-fat diet and every imaginable combination in between. Most people are looking for the newest fad diet or quick weight loss solutions. The problem with these “quick weight loss” or ‘fad’ diets is that, while you may be losing weight so long as you adhere to a strict regimen of the approved foods, it’s impossible for most people to sustain them. So you lose the desired 20 or more pounds, adhering to just those ‘allowed’ foods, but the menus soon become so boring and restrictive, that eating is more a ritual than a satisfying experience. Soon, once you shed the unwanted pounds, as your palate rebels from the boring foods you’ve been eating and the restriction of calories, you’re more than ready to get back to the pleasures of “real” eating. Then you shoot back up to the weight you were before or, in most cases, even more!

Staying healthy to me means staying in shape. I enjoy working out and I like to encourage my children to do the same. I am proud to say that now that they are both teenagers they have both found workout programs that work for them.

I believe that they enjoy exercise today because I encouraged them to exercise when they were younger. I did this because I understand that a healthy living program includes exercise and is extremely beneficial for everyone no matter their age.

In order to be successful, an exercise program has to be fun. It doesn’t have to seem like work. You can make it more enjoyable if you do it with someone else.

A family workout program has many benefits.  First of all, you have each other to help with accountability.  When one person wants to slack off, their loving family members – especially siblings – can help them see the light.  Secondly, if you are like me you’ll do much better when you have a buddy or loved one to push you to do your best.  Look at it as friendly competition that can help you achieve fitness goals you never thought possible.

Here are five fitness ideas for families who want to be healthier and need a little boost in the right direction.

Exercise – The Natural Mental Health Secret

Exercise is one of my biggest passions in life. It is also one of the world’s greatest natural mental and physical health secrets. Exercise is one of my biggest passions in life. It is also one of the world’s greatest natural mental and physical health secrets. It’s like maintenance of your car that was emphasized in that old commercial that said “Pay me now or pay me later”. A healthy living program that includes regular exercise will stave off many of the diseases that seem to come with “old age”, whatever that is.

When I was a kid I didn’t think about exercise as something I needed to do, I just did it. I would go to the playground and play baseball or basketball. We would find an empty lot and play soccer or football. I walked everywhere, rode my bike, climbed trees and rode the skateboard I made out of a wooden board and steel skate wheels. Exercise came naturally. It wasn’t a health secret it was just something that happened naturally in my life.

Today it’s different. I don’t have time to play sports on the playground. Instead of walking I get in my car. I don’t even own a bike or a skateboard anymore. So for me to get exercise I have to plan it into my day. Because of my fanaticism I have managed to stay in excellent shape. My body is in the same kind of shape I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I believe that one result of this is that it keeps my mind sharp.

As you might have guessed, because of my commitment to exercise I regularly tout its benefits to people all the time. Whether it’s training in the martial arts, working out in the gym or just biking or walking regularly, I personally believe that the discipline of a regular exercise program is excellent for staying fit and healthy. Studies are now showing that exercise is also one of the best ways to improve your cognitive abilities and memory.
